Exclusive: Sardine Run like - in the Middle of the Atlantic - Azores

Do you think amazing marine life encounters can only be experienced during the Sardine Run in South Africa or Mexico?

Think again! Sardines, Anchovie and Longnosefish and Sardine Run like activitys are with luck also found in the middle of the Atlantic, and since 2022, we’ve been offering you the European Sardine Run around the Portuguese Azores islands. With this expedition, we bring our over 20 years of Sardine Run experience to Europe, offering you a combination of adventurous Sardine Run days in the open sea and a diverse diving program at the best spots.

We have boats exclusively for our guests, using them throughout the day. We spend about 5 to 6 hours at sea. This exclusivity ensures highest possibel success, though it comes at a price. Unlike other dive schools that go out 2-3 times a day, we stay on the boat with our group, giving us exclusive access to the dive sites, often making us the only ones in the water!

We offer pure adventure, spending up to 6 hours a day on the ocean to find the possibly best marine life encounters with creatures like mobulas, tuna, sharks, bait balls, and whale sharks, as well as dolphins! With some luck, we might even see whales.

Pico 2026

  • Accommodation:

  • 10 nights in a cozy double room apartment (self-catering).

  • 8 Days on the Ocean:

  • 3 Days of Diving: Two dives per day at famous reefs around Pico Island—explore a fascinating underwater world with rays, groupers, and colorful reef fish.
  • 1 Day Whale Watching: Observe sperm whales, sei whales, fin whales, and dolphins up close (total time on the water: 3-5 hours, weather-dependent).
  • 1 Day Snorkeling with Dolphins: Immerse yourself in the magical world of these intelligent marine mammals (total time on the water: 3-5 hours, weather-dependent).
  • 1 Day Blue Shark Diving: Encounter blue sharks for a unique experience (total time on the water: 3-5 hours, weather-dependent).
  • 2 Days Prince Alice Diving: Dive at one of the world's best spots, including snorkeling (total time on the water: 6-8 hours per day, weather-dependent).

  • Possible Sightings:

  • Whales & Dolphins: Sperm whales, sei whales, fin whales, common dolphins, and false killer whales.
  • Sharks & Large Fish: Whale sharks, blue sharks, mako sharks, and mobulas.
  • Reefs & Reef Fish: Vibrant coral reefs, groupers, rays, and much more.

Optional at extra charge

  • Single room
  • Rental car, highly recommended due to distance between hotel and dive center.
  • Special equipment or any other equipment must be booked through us at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Payment to be made directly to dive centre.
